Unique concept for a scifi genre, it had what I enjoyed from Simon Carr, it does a great job in keeping me interested. I enjoyed how good the story worked and it did everything that I wanted. It left me wanting to read more and I'm glad I got to read this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely ready to read more. Where's the next one?!

True to Carr's norm, this book is absolutely hilarious. It breaks the 4th wall, inviting the reader to join the heart of the galaxy's invasion, become a part of the action, even if in an invisible manner, and be right in the middle of it all. We're not supposed to understand how everything works, and of course, our heroes are much like us. They use whoosie-whats-its and thingamabobs, and they have all kinds of great adventures. They learn to just go with the flies. This time around, our heroes are middle aged beer-drinking ne'er-do-wells. Some of us might identify with them... or not! This book is fast-paced and could make anyone's head spin with the fun and action, along with the silly factor! Great reading, fun, and lots of action and hilarity!

Simon Carr's latest novel is a laugh out loud Sci-Fi scream. Taking everyday people and turning them into the last hope for mankind when an alien invasion imprisons everyone else on the planet.
Love the characters, love the dialog and the crazy plot, but best of all it's loaded with hilarious references to pop culture, movies and more.
My tip is not to read this in public if you want to avoid the funny looks
